JPennell charcoal drawing captures an early-20th century style cityscape. The buildings, arrayed in the picture’s upper half, are cast in dark and light grey, their distinct shapes made evident by high contrast marks drawn between them. The light from an unseen source makes the buildings stand apart from their environment. In the lower register, a dark bridge with tall spires reaches across water, partially illuminated near and on top of the bridge. To the right is a large dark tower, obscuring much of the image, and, in the foreground, a bridge or road which leads to the tower. The water is murky, and in the lower third of the picture two people are in a boat on the water.<lora:JPennell-000006:1>
