The rider is in the center frame of the painting. She has brownish-red hair that is pulled back away from her face, exposing her light skin. She wears a royal blue dress with a large, billowing, circular skirt that catches wind during the ride. A petticoat-like undergarment is partially revealed at the left of the horse. To the left of the foreground rider sits another horsewoman, her horse is light brown, and she is side-by-side with the foreground horse. She is fair skinned with brunette hair, and she wears a hat with a feather as the decoration. To the rear is another rider whose figure is less defined, but is guessed at. In the background is also a rider, fainter still, further away. This painting is done on a thick textured canvas with visible brushstrokes. The lower center image has a partially defined shadow in dark blues and browns to indicate some sort of ground.
