A small family of Kodama forest spirits lives inside a hollowed-out tree stump nestled in a dense forest glade. The stump is enormous compared to their tiny bodies, its weathered bark forming towering walls around their cozy home. The Kodamas—each with a smooth pale body and round head with large, dark eyes—are engaged in gentle daily tasks. One stands on a mossy ledge, hanging a leaf to dry like laundry. Another peeks out from a rounded window carved into the stump, while a third Kodama sits on a curled root, holding a cup made from an acorn cap. Inside, faint warm light glows from small mushroom lanterns.
