He was cloaked and booted as if for a journey on horseback; and although his garments were rich and handsome, they were stained with long travel. His dark hair was shorn about his shoulders, he was clad in a coat of mail, and girt with a great long-sword, and he looked at them as if to challenge them to strike. He seemed older and more kingly, yet more like a soldier than before. His hood was cast back, and his dark hair was blowing in the wind, a light was in his eyes: a king returning from exile to his own land.
