A nude figure lies along a thick, dark branch of a fallen tree, head tilted back, eyes closed. The branch arcs across the frame, its gnarled limbs dominating the foreground and midground. Behind, a steep, densely wooded hill rises under a pale, overcast sky. The ground is littered with small, dark stones. The only light comes from above, casting soft shadows and leaving the lower portions of the scene in deep shade.
