liuxiaohu, the 21-year-old Chinese Eighth Route Army guard with short tousled black hair and light stubble, poles a narrow wooden boat through a vast reed marsh at dusk, standing in his gray uniform, golden reeds swaying around him and a flock of birds rising against an orange sky, his figure reflected in the still water. Fine-art photography, deliberate composition, rich tonal range, true skin texture, cinematic natural light.
