sheltercutawaymale, aged up Caption: The cutaway contains exactly 6 visible rooms: an upper-left water room, an upper-right kitchen, a middle-left laundry, a middle-right store room, a lower-left bunk room, and a lower-right solar plant. A narrow stair along the far left is circulation and is excluded from the room count. This is a semi-realistic illustrated cross-section of a desert outpost buried in tan rock, with a hot white sky, a cactus and a satellite dish on the roof. In the water room, an adult Black man aged 24 with a shaved head and a gold stud earring turns a blue valve on three clear filter columns of charcoal, gravel and sand. Green pipes, two pressure gauges and a floor grate surround him. In the kitchen, an adult East Asian man aged 23 with round glasses and hair tied back chops onions at a steel counter. A rice cooker, hanging pans and a shelf of spice tins line the wall. In the laundry, an adult white man aged 23 with a sandy crew cut and a long nose folds sheets at a wooden table. Three washing machines, a cart of wet clothes and a rack of hanging shirts fill the room. In the store room, an adult South Asian man aged 24 with a full beard and a heavier build stacks flatbread tins on a steel shelf. Grain sacks, oil bottles and a hanging scale crowd the floor. In the bunk room, an adult Southeast Asian man aged 23 with a soft fringe and a slim build sits reading a paperback on the lower bunk. A locker, a backpack and a canteen sit on the floor. In the solar plant, an adult Middle Eastern man aged 23 with a sharp jaw and cropped black hair checks a row of battery cabinets. Thick cables, a green inverter and a wall of switches fill the room. Every person has a different face. Riveted gray steel frames the rooms, with crisp ink outlines and painterly shading.
