The structers are partially buried in snow and glacial riverbed suggesting a long period of inactivity or abandonment. The scene is dominated by towering jagged mountains covered in snow and ice with a pale and sickly blue sky overhead adding a sense of cold and desolation. In the foreground a small yellow aircraft is flying close to the city providing a sense scale to the enormous structures. The aircraft is positioned to the left with its wings and body clearly visible. The overall color palette is dominatedby pale whites and darkish with the dark almost black structures providing a stark contrast. The painting captures a sense both of ancient mystery and cold harsh beauty.
